Door to Door
Since the majority of the population never go to church, we feel that it is important to visit people in the locality of our church, to inform them about our church, but especially to give them an opportunity to hear the Good News about Jesus Christ.
Therefore during the Spring and Summer months, a few people from the church (usually accompanied by the Pastor) visit about 1,000 houses in the vicinity of the church, usually in the early evening, once a week. We knock on each door (hence we call it “door-to-door” work), and introduce ourselves. We offer people a leaflet explaining the Good News about Jesus, and hope that they will want to talk about God, and especially the Lord Jesus Christ.
Sometimes it might be appropriate to invite them to church, or to a Christianity Explored Course, or offer them other literature or even a Bible if they don’t have one. We try to show that we really care about them as people, and never force ourselves upon them if they don’t want to talk.
We would welcome more Christian helpers who are passionate about reaching people who are lost in their sins, and therefore without hope, without Christ. This is something which might seem daunting at first, but we are able to offer training in this, and once you get over the initial fear of doing it (which is healthy!) we find that it is a real joy to be able to talk to people about the Lord.
